The Denver Broncos placed a second-round tender on edge rusher Shaquil Barrett on Monday, preceded by the same tender on center Matt Paradis. Barrett will be paid $2.914 million for 2018.
Barrett is likely to receive some interest at this tender and the Broncos may be wise to accept the second round pick as compensation over matching the offer. Especially if they believe in Shane Ray as much as they appear to believe in him.
The Broncos could use a second-round pick to make some big splashes in the 2018 NFL Draft and if Barrett isn’t figuring into their long-term plans then they might as well get something of value for him.
Both Barrett and Paradis have until April 20th to sign their tenders.
